The IPCC have announced the finalists who will be competing in final stages of the competition; and boy are we excited!
For the third and final round, finalists must create a haircut using one of the 9 foundation techniques. No combination or disconnections will be allowed. The final five will also be able to get creative with lighting and background to add more beauty to their work. The deadline for the final round is 12th September, with the awards ceremony taking place on Sunday 19th September.
The Final Five
A huge congratulations to the following…
- Jack Mead
- Akihiro Oda
- Sarah McCulloch
- Michael Rackett
- Ashley Haynes
How The Judging Works
With 10 countries competing, there are a total of 60 judges – sounds a lot, right? Each judge will have to mark the entries that are randomly selected for them, and each entry will be scrutinised by 15 judges.
This also means that each judge does not necessarily mark the same entrant’s work in each round. Sounds fair and square to us.
Each of the 2020 winners automatically nabbed a spot in the finals; meaning as well as the fabulous five named above… Yonick Filopoulos will also be competing in this stage.
The event will be streamed as an Instagram Live on @ipcc_uk. Expect presentations, live models and for each country to join to announce their winner.
Although the competition is almost over, the learning journey is not. Seminars and masterclasses are available all year round to help you build your skill and confidence ready for the 2022 competition. Check out our chat with finalist, Sarah McCulloch – HERE – to find out how she’s benefited from the education that runs alongside the competition.
Best of luck to each of the finalists!
