The British Beauty Council has launched a new campaign, “Oh Hello Beauty” to encourage people to return to salons – although, we don’t need persuading. The reason behind the campaign is to help the high street and city centres get back on their feet after lockdown.
The reality
- More than 7,300 salons have gone out of business since March 2020
- 3 million fewer customers in salons since reopening in April 2021
- Poster and social media campaign aims to bring back the joy of visiting salons
The COVID-19 pandemic has sadly caused over 7,000 salons to permanently close. The British Beauty Council fears this number will increase unless people start returning for treatments.
Spread the word
If you head over to the British Beauty Councilβs website you can download campaign posters for your salon windows; as well as social media assetts to plaster all over your feed.
Gifβs and stickers are available on Instagram stories. All you need to do is search hello beauty to spread the word.
Millie Kendall, chief executive of The British Beauty Council, says: β¨β¨βWe need to support the high street and city centre premises-based businesses. The personal care sector has not only struggled with the many months of closure and the on-going costs related to keeping their businesses alive β they are also not yet seeing the numbers of clients coming back to salons and stores that they had pre-Covid. β¨β¨βWe need to bring the joy back to beauty by encouraging clients to come back to experience the array of services we offer β most of these require immense skill and canβt always be replicated at home.β
And finally, keep your eyes peeled. You should start noticing campaign posters on the high street, at bus stops, train stations and underground stations.
