Pop’s newest it girl, Addison Rae, turned heads at Coachella with a radiant new shade dubbed “Desert Rose.” A warm, dimensional blend that feels tailor-made for golden-hour festival light.
The look strikes the perfect balance between copper richness and soft rose luminosity, giving her hair a reflective quality that shifts tone depending on movement and lighting.
The colour breakdown
The transformation was created by Matt Rez, Global Colour Artist for Paul Mitchell, who leaned into a multi-tonal approach:
“We took Addison into a lighter world, embracing copper while adding super subtle nuances of beige and rose gold.
The goal was dimension — layering gold, copper, and some beige so the tone shifts depending on the light for the ultimate warmth, dimension, and reflection.”

The formula
Preparation was key. Matt began by treating the hair with epres to ensure a clean, even canvas, before moving into colour using Paul Mitchell Colour & Gloss.
- Hairline: 4g 10.03 + 2g 10.734 (with equal 20 vol)
- Base: 40g 8.3 + 20g 8.034 (with equal 20 vol)
- Processing: 40 minutes
- At 20 minutes, lightly dampened and stretched through mids and ends for a soft, seamless melt
- Glossing: Equal parts: 10/043 + 9/34 + 8/036
- Processed for 10 minutes

Why we love Desert Rose
This colour taps into a growing demand for expensive-looking warmth, moving away from cooler blondes and into richer, more reflective tones. It’s flattering across skin tones and delivers that coveted “lit-from-within” glow.
Adapt the tone for your client:
- Customisable tone (more copper, more rose, or more beige)
- Ideal for summer transitions
- Perfect for clients wanting a soft but noticeable change
Expect to see this shade everywhere this season.
