If your salon kit needs a refresh, we have great news. Ergo brushes are now available in the UK. Founded by Robert Reed in 1994, Ergo Styling Tools is already a top-choice for leading stylists and salons in North America and parts of Europe. And you’ll be interested to know, Ergo is also the preferred brush of Aveda USA. Interestingly, Ergo started as a research company to improve and perfect the art of blow-drying. The brand wants to provide stylists with hot tools and brushes which are easy-to-use and ergonomically friendly for long-lasting shine. This sounds interesting…let’s hear more.
The clever design of Ergo brushes
Ergo designs brushes to provide precise control and incorporate negative ion-infused technology. What are the benefits of this? Ergo says this helps eliminate frizz and static for a flawlessly smooth salon-worthy finish. That sounds good to us. Also, these professional-grade brushes are light and balanced to reduce the risk of repetitive strain injury often associated with blow-drying. If you ever struggle with muscle strain or tension following a day in the salon…Ergo brushes could be for you.
Janie Tongue
Janie Tongue, director of education at Ergo Styling Tools UK and her husband, Jonty Olivier MD, brought the brushes to the UK, being impressed by the ergonomic design. Janie says: “As salon owners, we discovered Ergo brushes in America after two of our stylists had to change careers and retrain due to repetitive strain injury. This isn’t something that is widely discussed in the hairdressing industry. However, it is something that impacts all stylists daily. As stylists or for salon owners, we don’t consider the effect that using tools every day can have on our bodies. Stylists do this job for years, and using ergonomically designed tools like the Ergo brushes impacts the outcome of the finished style and the wellbeing of the stylists themselves.”
Let’s take a closer look
The nylon bristles in Ergo brushes are infused with carbon and tourmaline to increase shine, eliminate frizz and provide heat-resistance. The ergonomic designs feature a textured silicone handle for total control, even with wet or product-covered hands. This is a smart feature for sure! The double-coated extended ceramic barrel is 20% longer than comparable brushes, leading to faster blow-drying times. The recessed end cap prevents hair from snagging.
Ergo Classic Brush Collection
This is the collection where it all started. Seven brushes specifically designed for medium to coarse hair types, the collection is the must-have styling brush with heat resistance up to 260 degrees centigrade.
Ergo Super Gentle Brush Collection
This is the newest brush line from Ergo. The Super Gentle Brush Collection comprises six brushes, including a large and mini paddle. The line is for fine, fragile, or thinning hair and is perfect for hair extensions. These have flexible bristles and crinkle-cut technology to create proper tension while being forgiving on the hair. And they preserve the stylists’ work with heat resistance up to 232 degrees centigrade.
The Classic and Super Gentle Ergo brush ranges are now available in the UK, with an official product launch in London on the 13th of October. Click here for more information.
