In a post-Lockdown comeback to fundraising over 2022, Saks raised £200,000 for their charity partner, The Eve Appeal. The charity raises awareness and funds for life-saving research into the five gynaecological cancers of the cervix, ovaries, womb, vagina and vulva. With the help of the Saks hairdressing group, that work will continue.

The Eve Appeal
In total, Saks pledges to raise £250k to help team-Eve invest in research, increase public awareness and influence public policy and clinical practice around prevention. It’s so great to see support for an organisation whose research will benefit many.

Big challenges
During 2022, while returning to business in the hair and beauty industry, the salon teams at Saks embraced outdoor activities to raise funds. This included a Wing Walk at 140 mph (Saks Ripon and Skipton), a gruelling 12k Total Warrior obstacle run (Sedbury Hall) and fielding a team to join The Eve Appeal’s Walk To Remember, trekking 26 miles along Hadrian’s Wall (Guisborough and HQ). It sounds like the teams put a lot of effort into supporting the charity; certainly something to be proud of.

Closer to home
In-and-around salon activities included a quiz night (Kings Hill), a health club spin cycle challenge (Ashton) and opening the salon on a Sunday with appointments for donations on Mother’s Day (Barnard Castle). Saks would like to shout out Newark salon owner Zoe Chamberlain for asking for donations instead of wedding presents. Zoe’s gesture helped ensure the milestone donation was achieved, a great way to kickstart 2023.

2023
Saks tells us that this year will see a continued pushing of boundaries, with their new team members encouraged to think up challenges. There will also be a refocus on in-salon events with customers joining in.
Athena Lamnisos
Athena Lamnisos, chief executive at the Eve Appeal, says: “The biggest, most heartfelt thank you to Saks for their incredible support for The Eve Appeal. How amazing to reach £200,000 through their fantastic fundraising efforts. We are constantly blown away by the passion, enthusiasm and fun they bring to supporting our charity, and we look forward to what they bring next!”

Janet King
Janet King, head of marketing at Saks, says: “Huge thanks to every Saks4Eve supporter who’s helped us get to this point – we’ve got our eyes on raising our next £50k to coincide with Saks’ 50th celebrations in 2024. We’re super proud to be doing our bit. Please get in touch with your Saks salon to see what they’re up to next and let’s help to make change.”
