Salon software for busy periods

Six days left to Christmas, here are 6 ways to avoid worry about controlling operations in the salon. The festive period is super-busy, and your team will be juggling many tasks. Here we look at using software to help you keep things running smoothly. Rikki Tronson, chief revenue officer at iSalon, has some great suggestions; if you’re not using them, think on…

Salon software for busy periods by Rikki Tronson

  • Marketing – in the lead-up to Christmas, you may have Christmas packages and offers for Christmas retail gift sets and vouchers. Ensure your clients know what’s on offer and encourage them to book a service or make a purchase. Use your salon software to help with marketing. This could include sending newsletters to your client database, letting them know what’s on offer and giving them inspo

  • Text messages – limit festive period no-shows. iSalon says a software system that sends clients appointment reminders via text is essential. Appointment reminders can dramatically reduce no-shows (by 60% on average). Also, working with a 48-hour notice period, they give you time to replace cancellations
  • Online bookings – Not having a reception team to answer the phone or check social media messages can be challenging. Online bookings allow clients to check availability at the salon and quickly book their appointments in just a few clicks – saving you and the client valuable time

  • Appointment book – who needs a paper appointment book that can get disorganised? Plus, we’ve all struggled to read our own handwriting at times! A salon software system with an appointment book means you can easily see your appointments, check what service a client is in for, and if they have made a deposit. This helps to prepare you for every client, ensuring business runs smoothly

  • Client records – the last thing you need over the busy period is your client coming in for their hair colour service without having had their skin-test. With client record features, you can send out automated skin-test reminders, resulting in fewer no-shows. Plus, you won’t have to turn clients away from an appointment because they did not complete a skin-test

  • Stock control – identify best-selling products using a salon software system with a stock control feature and ensure no shelf-space remains empty! It’s important for any business to know your favourites, too. Stock control features will also allow you to manage and minimise stock without having to do any counting on the salon floor yourself. Instead, you can spend that time providing your clients with quality customer service, ensuring they leave the salon happy and excited to return.

You’ll have spotted by now, these ideas are for all salon life, not just for Christmas!
