Avlon Europe proudly took part in this year’s ACLT (Afro Caribbean Leukaemia Trust) Run 5, Save Lives 5k. In case you didn’t know… ACLT are an award-winning charity. They focus on providing optimism to those living with blood cancer and other illnesses where a donor match is needed to save a life (stem-cell, blood or organ). They register people from all ethnicities to improve the chances of finding a match, however their main focus is on donors from the African and Caribbean communities. This is due to an extreme shortage of potential African and Caribbean donors.
The event is a family friendly fun run & walk, suitable for all fitness levels. Those taking part can choose to run, walk or jog a 5k route at either a location of their choice or on indoors on a treadmill; to commemorate loved ones or to support family, friends, colleagues or others battling blood cancers and those in need of stem cell, blood and/or organ donations.
Double trouble
Graham Oakes, European Sales Manager for Avlon took part in the annual event last weekend. Graham absolutely smashed it! He didn’t just run 5k… Graham pushed himself to the limits going for 10k in just 50 minutes.
Kudos to Graham and everyone else who took part in this heroic sporting event. We are over the moon to hear that Graham has raised over £1000 for ACLT. It’s not too late to donate either – you can do so HERE.
