Osmo has a new brand ambassador, the passionate and super-talented barber Kyle Ross. Kyle’s love for barbering began over 15 years ago when he followed his creative passion instead of a university law degree. Unfilled with the academic world, Kyle’s interest in fashion, social engagements, and creativity led him to switch track to a hairdressing career. This certainly shows what good can come from following your heart, even if it’s scary. Bravo Kyle, we applaud! Kyle, who was hairdressing trained, decided to focus solely on men’s hair eight years ago and says he hasn’t looked back since.
Kyle Ross
Kyle says: “I found my interest in men’s fashion and modern barbering appealed more. I recognised that there were so many opportunities to expand barbering styles, education, and techniques. Being hairdresser trained, I can combine my skills to provide a client with a full haircut experience. I take lifestyle, at-home styling abilities, hair textures and head shape to create a bespoke cut for my customers.
“Osmo has so many products to ensure our clients have the ideal product for at-home styling. That’s very important to me. It will be an exciting journey working closely with the Osmo team during my ambassadorship role.”
Sovereign Grooming
Kyle opened his first shop, Sovereign Grooming, in 2016 in Aberdeen with a second shop in Edinburgh in 2020 and an Edinburgh academy in 2022. Kyle is passionate about education. The demand for training and work opportunities with Sovereign Grooming grew and Kyle was providing his team with hands-on education and apprenticeships. So, the academy was a natural progression.
Awards
No stranger to awards and accolades, Kyle has been named Scottish Men’s Stylist of the Year, Best Barber and Social Media Influencer at the Scottish Hair & Beauty Awards, Best Barber UK at the International Barber Awards in Germany, shortlisted in the Creative Head Most Wanted and It Awards, plus GQ Grooming Awards and named as Scotland’s ‘Coolest People’ by The Herald newspaper.
Fashion shows
From running a successful barbering shop and academy, Kyle’s career experience has also seen him assist at London, Paris and Milan fashion shows alongside presenting on stage at industry events from Salon International, Pro Hair Live and Great British Barber Bash.
We like his style
Kyle’s style of barbering is hybrid. He’s confident about taking his hairdressing skills and knowledge of colour to his men’s cutting and styling techniques. With a flair for softer styles, Kyle’s clipper work creates softer fades and curves, working with the hair’s natural growth for a truly tailored cut.
Sinéad McLaughlin
“We’ve been aware of Kyles’s work for some time from his Scottish award wins and social media. His style of barbering has a unique, stand-out approach with clear creative direction. This and Kyle’s educational experience will be fully embraced and utilised by the Osmo team. From creating social media content to presenting on stage and supporting the team with educational expertise, Kyle will be a great asset to the Osmo family,” Osmo senior brand manager Sinéad McLaughlin says.
