We learn best when we’re having fun right? So what better way to educate salon owners about climate change than through a game. Green Mirror is an online game developed by Kao Salon Division to educate salon owners and their teams on how to address sustainability within their salon. The edutainment (get it?) is in an escape rom format – because who doesn’t love an escape room?
The game helps players to understand the energy consumption of hair straighteners, dryers and other technical equipment as well as teaching ways to save hair colour through application. During the game they will be asked these question, plus more. The idea is that by learning the answers to these questions the stylists will begin to apply them to their every day work.
The game comes to life in a digital hairdressing salon and accompanies the players as a leader, a tipster and a whimsical commentator. The virtual salon incites teams of two to five players to enter, play and learn.
“Educating and supporting salons to make environmentally friendly choices for their salons is one of the key pillars of our ESG commitment”, explains Dr. Elmar Mussenbrock, global director sustainability at Kao Salon Division. “Instead of sharing information in classic ways such as brochures and static content on websites, we decided for a highly modern, interactive digital format that offers not only a deeper learning experience but also a lot of fun.”
