Philipp Haug: “For Ellie, we wanted to create an updo that felt sexy and youthful – and no one did that better than Brigitte Bardot! It’s important that the hair doesn’t look overly contrived, so we prepped with Schwarzkopf Professional Session Label The Mousse to build volume and control and used just a large round brush to add height at the crown. We then created a soft bun, pinning hair high on the head and using a tailcomb and Session Label The Flexible to create a more undone result. The front sections were tonged and finished with Session Label The Serum for subtle shine and control.”

Philipp Haug: “Daisy is wearing her hair super-long right now, so we wanted to show that by adding a glamorous cascading curl and soft texture to frame her face. Hair was prepped with Schwarzkopf Professional Session Label The Miracle and styled with a large tong, wrapping hair from the mid-lengths down and allowing it to cool before gently combing through. We also tonged Daisy’s curtain bangs for a playful flicked effect, using Session Label The Flexible all over the hair to finish for a long-lasting hold without stiffness.”

90s Supermodel, as seen on Chloe Lloyd

Philipp Haug: “The inspiration for this look was Cindy Crawford and the Supermodels of the early 90s. We wanted volume and movement through the style, so we prepped with Schwarzkopf Professional Session Label The Mousse. This classic styling product adds ‘guts’ and body, making the hair easy to manipulate. Hair was set on large, heated rollers and once cool, we dressed out with a large paddle brush, using the hands to coax hair into place. For the quiffed fringe, we lifted hair off the face with a vent brush, fixing in place with Session Label The Flexible to finish.”

Elevated Pony, as seen on Laura Tobin

Philipp Haug: “Done well, a classic ponytail can look so elegant and is a perfect choice for a red-carpet event. We prepped Laura’s hair with Schwarzkopf Professional Session Label The Thickener, which adds grip and body, so is ideal as a base for updos. The clean centre parting feels ultra-modern, and we added volume through the crown with some gentle backcombing – we were aiming for a subtle lift rather than too much height, which can look dated. We secured the pony just above the nape, wrapping it with a loose section of hair for an elevated finish (and helping ensure that Laura’s dazzling sequin dress wasn’t overshadowed by an accessory). Then, just a touch of Session Label The Texturiser was added to the lengths to create a contemporary ‘undone’ texture.”

Thank you to Philipp Haug for running through these BAFTA hair looks. We love to find inspiration on the red carpet and we are sure your clients do too.
