Anne Veck on Avlon

When it comes to hairdressing Anne Veck sure does have a knack for it. A true master of the craft, Anne is also extremely skilled in styling Black & Afro hair. After bagging a spot as a finalist in the BHA21 Afro category, we had to find how she was creating incredible hair with luxurious Avlon products.

This is Anne Veck’s 5th nomination for Afro Hairdresser of the Year (and 18th nomination at the British Hairdressing Awards). “You’re only as good as your last collection! I love working with afro hair so it’s a big thrill to finalise not only for Afro Hairdresser of the Year but also for Southern Hairdresser of the Year, with looks from the same collection.” Says Anne.

Midnight Blue

The 2021 collection that is working wonders for Anne is called Midnight Blue. “I love the almost blue colour of a moonlit night sky around a full moon. With this collection I wanted to channel the dark hues of the night sky into a range of looks that take a darker turn yet are glamorous and express my love for working with afro hair in all its beauty. I used  techniques including plaiting, braiding and Bantu knots to translate this inspiration from the traditional to the ultra modern, a range of looks ideal for the woman of today.”

We can’t wait to get our hands on this collection, but in the meantime we’ll admire Anne’s talent in afro hair by taking a look back at the Lawless collection.

Lawless Inspo

“Black hair is still considered provocative and even lawless. Afro hair isn’t seen as the norm and many black women feel the need to hide their natural hair in order to progress. In my Lawless collection I simply want to celebrate the beauty and strength of black women and black hair. From my hairdressing perspective, not offering textured hair services to people with textured hair is the same as not offering services to people with red hair.”

Top Products

We asked Anne what her top products are for styling afro hair, here’s what she said – “I love all  Avlon products! They are reliable and the quality is second to none. Afro hair generally lacks moisture and the Avlon range delivers just the right amount of moisture  lasting all day without making the hair oily or greasy and with minimum residue. Their education is also fantastic allowing my team and myself to stay up to date with new products and the latest technology.  Textured hair can’t be managed without the right products. Avlon’s fabulous products have all the solutions!”

We have to agree, Avlon products are dreamy when it comes to styling black and afro hair!
