Product innovation with Jay B Haircare

Have you ever considered creating your own product line? With over a decade in the industry stylist Jay Birmingham felt he needed more for his clients, so he did just that. Introducing Jay B Haircare.

“With over a decade in the industry, I’ve tried my fair share of hair products – some good, some not so good. Over the years I encountered many products that left my clients hair needing more. Some included harsh chemicals, leaving the hair needing more TLC and resulting in colour fading. I wanted my clients to have perfect hair between salon visits and products that would leave the hair shiny and bouncy every time,” explains Jay.

Jay B Haircare was born

“I created my own range, Jay B Haircare, as an extension of my own personality, my passions, and my own self values,” says Jay “I’ve poured my heart and soul into this venture, producing an exclusive range of premium hair care products, that convey my mission to get my clients hair feeling luxurious and healthy.

“For me, hydrated hair is happy hair. It’s softer, healthier, and less prone to breakage. I formulated my Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner Duo, to deliver hydrated, glossy hair after every use, giving the hair that much needed oomph!

Where to start

When formulating your own range, you need to have a good idea of what your clients would want, so it essential to keep your audience in mind when creating a range.

“Another piece of advice is don’t rest until you find that perfect formula,” continues Jay. “Even if you have to test hundreds of prototypes – keep trying until you find the perfect one. Remember your products are an extension of your brand so they have to represent you as a person. The packaging is also an essential part of creating your brand’s identity. It needs to represent how you want your brand to be perceived, so personalise it to your meet your goals and make it stand out from the crowd.

Only the best

When formulating his hair care line, Jay was looking for natural, organic products that wouldn’t damage the hair. He says: “I chose to make the products sulphate free and vegan, in line with my own beliefs. The Hydrating Shampoo has key ingredients for hydration, such as, avocado oil and argan oil which nourishes the hair, preventing further breakage. The Hydrating Conditioner is formulated with macadamia oil and argan oil, both rich in fatty acids and potassium for stronger, healthier hair. The conditioner is also formulated with vitamin E, an essential in hair growth, whilst preventing hair loss and reducing split ends.”
