Trevor Sorbie MBE invited us into home to meet his wife Carole and dog Lisbon, and of course to share stories and reflections on his life in hairdressing. Chatting in his studio in December 2023, Trevor is now retired from seeing clients in the salon, and entertaining thousands of hairdressers with his celebrated shows. But he remains very much engaged with the industry. He works closely with his artistic team (Trevor Sorbie International has six UK based salons), led by Giuseppe Stelitano the creative director at @trevorsorbie and continues to run his My New Hair charity work.
When Charlotte met Trevor
In our podcast recording, guest host Charlotte Cave reminds Trevor of his great achievements, from training with Vidal Sassoon through to opening his own first salon in 1979. They talk about the industry in the UK both over the past 50 years and today. Charlotte herself owns two London salons and first met Trevor when he was the one to announce her first award win some 20 years ago. The pair cover lots of ground including questions submitted to Charlotte from many of Trevor’s erstwhile proteges including Sally Brooks, Angelo Seminara and Tom Connell.
