Pamela Cooney, Artistic Director of award winning Hazel & Haydn has shared an insight into the top trends of 2022, whatâs popular among clients and trends to look out for this year. It looks as if the 90s is having a revival this year, with 90s hair proving to be a popular trend among clients at Hazel & Haydn salon based in Birminghamâs Jewellery Quarter. Hazel & Haydn, Artistic Director, Pam Cooney says:
âWeâre seeing a lot of influence from the 90s come through in the salon. Short textured fringes with jaw grazing panels cut with softness and texture. Big hair is back, weâre seeing a modern take on the Rachel cut that was made famous in the 90s with lots of clients requesting big, voluminous blowdries enhanced by a layered cut, itâs time for the Rachel 2.0.â
Platinum
Platinum hair is also making a comeback, short textured blonde bobs are set to be a big trend, the brighter the better. Pam says, âWhen it comes to blondes in 2022, platinum is going to be a big trend. This year is all about bright and bold beautiful blondes, think trashy but classy. One thing that is key to consider if youâre considering a colour transition to platinum is the condition of your hair, âWith every client, we always advise them on aftercare and add on services in the salon to help protect the integrity of the hair, but in the salon this is crucial. I always advise my clients to have a wellaplex treatment with every colour service, then to take step three home to keep that salon finish, also Kerastase Blonde Absolute Range is a must have for any blonde fighting against pollutants in the hair and unwanted brassy tones.â
Naturelle
When it comes to cuts, there are three big trends to look out for. â2022 is about embracing your natural hair textureâ, says Pam. Using round shapes cut above the shoulders and worn off the face moving away from fringes and curtain bangs opting for cuts that open up the face and create beautiful shapes by applying Amika Curl Corps Gel and Kerastase Elixr for moisture and twist curling the hair and diffusing with the GHD Helios and diffuser.
Face framing
For Longer shapes Pam advises, incorporating face framing layers mimicking grown out fringes styled into the hair to create interest around the face without it looking fringe like, choosing your best feature to highlight. Styling using triple barrel wavers by beauty works to create surfer/ mermaid hair all giving a lived on grown out feel. Making use of colour sprays from KMS to create an iridescent glow and shine to the hair. Finishing with KMS Dry Hairspray to give a Matt finish. We can see people playing with colour but itâs able to wash straight out thanks to colour sprays.
Buzz
People will dare to buzz cut. This latest punk trend shows how powerful it is to buzz cut the hair right back to reveal all the natural features and make a real impact. Initially taken off with clipper but then scissor over comb leaving softer length around ears and hairline finished with Amika Vandal volume powder spray to get that Matt dusty finish.
