Celebrating Glasgow Pride with ROAR Hair and Beauty Salons

It’s the most colourful time of the year; Pride! And to celebrate we caught up with Brian ‘Leo’ McCallum, owner of ROAR Hair and Beauty in Glasgow, to find out what they’re doing to celebrate diversity. Over to you Brian…

“I’m excited to share how we’re embracing diversity and celebrating Glasgow Pride on July 20th,” says Brian. “Our salon isn’t just about creating gorgeous hairstyles; it’s about fostering a community where everyone feels welcome and empowered to express their true selves.

“For me personally, Pride is a time of self-expression. I love embracing my alter ego, Ginger, and dressing up in full drag for the festivities. It’s a powerful reminder that our salon is a place where all forms of self-expression are celebrated.”

Be brave, be bold

“At ROAR, we pride ourselves on offering a brave and safe space for all our guests. We understand that everyone’s needs are unique, and we’re committed to customising our services accordingly. Whether it’s accommodating religious beliefs, lifestyle choices, or personal comfort levels, we always strive to create a tailored experience,” insists Brian.

“Our commitment to inclusivity extends to our pricing structure too. Since day one, we’ve implemented gender-neutral pricing across all three of our salons. We believe that the complexity of the cut and style, not gender, should determine the price. This approach not only makes logical sense but also considers the emotional aspect of our guests’ experiences.”

Raise awareness

“ROAR actively supports and encourages employee activism that aligns with our values. We’re proud to use our platform to raise awareness for various causes, from Pride Month and LGBT History Month to Earth Month and Mental Health Awareness Week. We believe in the power of standing up for what’s right and using our voice to make a positive impact,” explains Brian.

“As we approach Glasgow Pride, we’re excited to show our support in vibrant ways. Our team will be offering special Pride-inspired hairstyles and makeup looks throughout the week. The more glitter the better! We’re also planning to participate in the parade, showcasing our creativity and solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community.

“At ROAR Hair and Beauty, every day is an opportunity to celebrate diversity and inclusion. We’re more than just a salon; we’re a community that embraces individuality, champions self-expression, and believes in the transformative power of feeling truly seen and accepted.

“So, whether you’re looking for a bold new look for Pride, need a safe space for your regular hair care, or simply want to be part of a welcoming community, ROAR is here for you. Let’s celebrate Pride, and every day, together!” Well said Brian.
