Joico Color Excellence graduates ’24

An important part of a brand’s support for clients is education and the Joico Color Excellence Course is a fabulous example. Launched in the UK last year, the second edition for 2024 students has just wrapped with a graduation ceremony for all. Hosted at Lacey’s Hair & Beauty in Theale, the class of ’24 were brimming with enthusiasm for their year of study and what it means. They talked with Nicky Pope, and editor at Respect For Hair about their experience… while toasting their success at their ‘leaving do’.

Students have spent one day each month at the Lacey’s premises completing their five modules. Over the year they have covered a range of skills (scroll down for details), they told Nicky Pope how working with the entire Joico colour portfolio both added to their skills and understanding as well as refreshing what they thought they knew. Although at times intense, the group each reiterated how exciting and accessible their study classes had been. And importantly, they have now formed a close network of friends to go forward.

Graduation day

The ceremony opened with a welcome from Malcolm Lacey himself, then we met each graduate on stage for a final presentation of live models. Each had created a mood board during the day and then translated their inspiration onto a live colour model. The looks were impressive.

The course is suitable for students at any level as there is plenty of scope for 1-1 time with educators. Indeed, Lacey’s educators on the Color Excellence course are Anna Beharrylal and Odette Joyles. They clearly have the confidence of their students who talked about how practical, friendly and useful the education has been.

To add to the celebratory mood, three graduates from 2023 returned to say hello. Just as this year’s cohort, they were effusive in talking about how the Joico Color Excellence course has fired up their colour work and helped build business.
