This month Fudge Professional hosted Fudge Friday at Electric Space in Soho. Fudge Friday was a fun day of hair makeovers and an excellent chance to catch up with Fudge Professional ambassador Jonathan Andrew. Respect For Hair and Jonathan get along famously. It was an opportunity also to find out more about Jonathan’s new podcast series; This Is Not What I Asked For.
This Is Not What I Asked For
In This Is Not What I Asked For, Jonathan chats to his guests in a fresh, lighthearted way – far from the formal style of a traditional interview. In each podcast, Jonathan chooses photos of his guest in different stages of their life. Jonathan then asks his guest to discuss their haircut in each image and the story around it. In this way, Jonathan skilfully unravels his guest’s history and learns who they are and how they came to be. Obviously as a hairdresser, Jonathan knows you can learn much about someone based on their haircut. Part of the inspiration behind the podcast was the way hairdressers get to know their clients while working on their hair.
Jonathan says, ‘I wanted to create a podcast which would really shine a light on the importance of hairdressers, and the conversations we have with our clients. The concept of the podcast is simple and utilises something which we all know- that hairdressers chat to their clients and vice versa. Each week I invite celebrity guests in, and we have a look at old pictures of significant haircuts/styles they’ve had. These can either be good or bad. I find this is a great way to have a casual yet insightful chat with my guest, like how it would be if they were in my chair having their hair done.’ Jonathan Andrew.
Jonathan says his favourite part of the job is meeting and talking to people. Which brings us neatly to…
Fudge Friday Blow-dry
While chatting to our reporter Octavia Perry, Jonathan treated her to a superb blow-dry with a voluminous, curly finish. Nicely done! Octavia’s hair was washed with Fudge All Blonde Colour Booster Shampoo to enhance blonde highlights for a bright, shiny finish with vibrant colour. Recommend for clients whose hair may be a little dull due to the long winter months. Jonathan prepped the hair for the blow-dry using Fudge Aqua Blow Dry Primer- a hero product that contains hyaluronic acid and Fudge Professional’s Weather-shield technology. The Aqua Primer prevents frizz, helping hair stay smooth and shiny.
Jonathan also used Salt Spray for texture, volume and hold. Jonathan says people often think Salt Spray is only used for beachy hair, but that isn’t true. Recommend Salt Spray for clients who want a little extra thickness and movement through their hair, as this increases the volume and makes hair easier to style! The finished result was beautiful, bouncy hair full of colour and shine.
