#WorksForUs campaign

Lauren The Blog

Introducing our #WorksForUs campaign…

Two weeks of social distancing and isolation has got us thinking about what you’re all doing to keep in touch with your teams and ensure that once this is all over you return to the salon stronger than ever. This is your chance to really connect with your team – virtually of course. It’s also a time to reflect on the direction you want your business to take and an opportunity to sign-up to that course you’ve been meaning to for years – especially given that a lot of them are currently being discounted or even free.

We’ve teamed up with salons and brands across the UK to let you know what they’re getting up to as part of our mini campaign #WorksForUs. Take inspiration and join us by turning isolation into opportunity. We’d also love to hear what you’ve been up too, drop us an email HERE.

Kicking off our campaign is one of hairdressing’s finest Darren Fowler, who insists the general plan of action for him and his team has been about keeping their community together – this involves not only the team but clients as well. “Obviously this is a stressful time for all, but having a routine is absolutely paramount,” says Darren. “To this end, we have been connecting with our team on zoom twice a week so as not to overload or add stress anxiety to anybody’s week. All we are really doing on these meetings going around the team and listening to what everybody has  been up to, and how their health and vitality is.”

He adds: “This ‘FaceTime’ gives us a really good indication of where people are and what they need from us, at Fowler35 we have worked with a life coach over the last three years and this is somebody that is available to the team should they require some guidance and coaching in these times. We also have a group WhatsApp where the team members nominate each other to come up with a daily working title for tips and tricks for our clients, the selected team member will create the content to be shared – we have prizes for the most likes on the content too.

Darren also runs a digital learning platform, The Fowler Hair Academy, which is of course open to his team, but now has been opened up to everybody.

As the weeks go by, Darren insists his strategy will be to return the team to work whilst constantly communicating with clients via social media or email. “It’s valuable and imperative that we now set in place a return to work programme for the team so we will be working with them closely on this and also holding training prior to opening up the doors in Windmill Street,” explains Darren. This will ensure everybody is ready for the inevitable boom that will occur.”

“As we speak, I’m getting ready to do a pop culture quiz with the team,” says Jenn. “We have a ‘salon Pub’ that we use for team building so today is the first of what I plan to be a weekly get together for us all to connect and stay positive. The pub is called The Stylist Comb.” Genius, we love it!

“The teams are also taking a lot of interest in online education. The stylists have been great at keeping up to date with training. They have been refreshing colour knowledge on L’Oréal Professionnel Access too,” says Jenn.

“We had given a few dolls heads out to the team as well to keep practicing and I’m going to do a group training session with our assistants. I run a training session in Alton a couple of times a year called Styling Boot Camp. This is all styling focused and really targeted at our new stylists. I’m going to use the opportunity to get more of the team involved now.”
