The work done by Haircuts4Homeless represents the hair and beauty industry more closely than any other charity. But we need your support. Urgently.
Charities are having a harder time than ever, post Covid. The volunteers at Haircuts4Homeless work free and put in the ‘extra’ to deliver a service that is extraordinary. Each day a project is giving haircuts that return self-esteem, and may lift someone out of depression and poverty.
A haircut can mean the difference between being allowed into a shop to buy a coffee, getting that job opportunity, being seen! But the charity needs donations urgently. If you can help, please do.
The community Haircuts4Homeless builds, the visibility for the ‘transformative effect of a haircut’ resonates closely with our values as an industry. This is the best demonstration of the importance hairdressers have in any society – the rebuilding of self-esteem is vital to anyone trying to lift themselves out of homelessness. The issue of homelessness touches everyone. And this is a charity hairdressers can raise funds for and work within. It’s utterly inclusive.
And it needs you – every hairdresser, salon owner, independent freelancer or company brand. The set up at Haircuts4Homeless is sophisticated. But the funding is precarious. Please give what you can to keep this wonderful service going. Click HERE
The beautiful story
Haircuts4Homeless was established 10 years ago by hairdresser Stewart Roberts. He has a network of volunteers around the UK to offer haircuts to men and women suffering homelessness. This could be the \street homeless’, or people living in refuges or sub-standard temporary accommodation. The volunteers run pop-up salons within agencies such as the Salvation Army, food kitchens and hostels for example. Staggeringly, with sheer determination and relentless commitment to the cause, Stewart has established some 90 UK volunteer projects with more than 600 volunteers on boarded.
Like any enterprise, running H4H relies on forward-planning. While ad hoc funding is important, it is the regular and reliable support of sponsors which makes the charity possible. Can you help? It could be to explore sponsorship for the year? Or a one off corporate donation? No donation too small. Click HEREhttps://donate.justgiving.com/charity/haircuts4homeless/donation-amount
