We’re impressed with images from Hunter Kostrubiec at Tsiknaris Hair. Inspired by Punk and grunge music influences, her capsule collection won her Apprentice of the Year at the Australian Hair Industry Awards this year.
Read what Hunter has to say: “My Collection is inspired by the ”punk” movement that swept the UK and USA in the 70s/80s while adding elements of current fashion and trends. It was also influenced by things in the media that inspired me growing up: watching the end of the grunge scene during some of my formative years, and being incapsulated by alternative subcultures. Having musical influences like Avril Lavigne, Paramore and Lady GaGa who aren’t afraid to break free of the expectations that public figures are usually held to, and were unapologetically true to themselves and what they believed in.
Later in life being introduced to Vivienne Westwood’s work, and being infatuated by the revolutionary movement she caused in the fashion and beauty industry…. And being inspired by some of these incredible figures led me to the inspiration behind my collection. creating something different to challenge the usual societal norm.”
