Congratulations to Dan Spiller, who has been announced as the British Colour Technician of the Year! Throughout his career with salon group Marc Antoni, Dan is no stranger to picking up awards having been part of the art team that won Tribu-te’s Big One award. Dan was up against some of the most revered colourists in the industry to claim this trophy and his outstanding colour work and varied expertise set him above the rest on the night. But how did Dan get to this point? How has his career in colour led him to be an award winner!
Dan very quickly knew he wanted to be a hairdresser when, aged 14, he was a Saturday boy in a barber shop. Dan joined the multi award winning salon group, Marc Antoni hair in 2002 at just 17 years old. His promise of an incredible career was obvious early in his career as he was named Newcomer of the Year 2010, followed by a Gold award win at Trend Vision followed by a Visionary Award and the Young Talent Award slightly later in his career.
Dan worked his way up to a Marc Antoni Master Colour Expert, as well as manager of the busy Fleet salon and key member of the well-travelled Marc Antoni Artistic Team, not to mention being the Joico Color Ambassador for Europe, the UK and Ireland! His expertise in technical and creative colour are sought after within the industry as an educator and trend leader.
With a passion for training and education, Dan is one of the most experienced color artists today, having immersed himself in both the technical and creative aspect of hair colour since his early days at Marc Antoni. His role as Joico Color Ambassador gives him an extraordinary platform to share his knowledge and expertise with other colourists.
Claiming the title for Colour Technician of the Year 2022 was a well-deserved accolade for Dan after reaching the finals in both 2015 and 2019. On the night Dan shared “There are so many people that have made this happen. I’ve been coming to this event for 20 years and to win this award is incredible. I’m so grateful for everyone that has contributed to this moment. I’m very proud of what we do as hairdressers – we make people feel good every day and I’m grateful that we are recognised as an amazing industry.”
