Nicky Pope introduces the show…

TRIUMPHANT! We were mesmerised by the knock-out show Tribu-te delivered yesterday with their brilliant, and eclectic five-artist line-up. To kick off proceedings, Tribu-te had busker, Jonny Holliday, play as guests rolled in… Building up to an impressive audience of 900-strong which provided a buzzing atmosphere.
Trevor Sorbie and Tim Hartley joined Nicky Pope, UK publisher of Tribu-te magazine, on stage to introduce the 2017 show and announce that the Sassoon-inspired On The Edge show – which Trevor and Tim co-curated with Tribu-te back in April – will be happening again in 2018 so watch this space.

Trevor Sorbie

.First onto the stage was Trevor Sorbie art director Tom Connell, who gave us a masterclass in razor-cutting, creating two beautifully precise looks on his impressively tailored models. Next up, we were treated to pure creativity from Spanish trio X-Presion who presented two models… two of which had been prepped to show their ingenious pixel colour technique. Then, following an impressive performance at the Paris Tribu-te show back in September, Skyler returned to treat the UK audience to the same daring show which featured a swing(!), water and wet paint… It had the audience (and us) on the edge of their seats. A short interval later, and another performance from busker Jonny Holliday.  We were into the second half with just two acts left. Australian Kevin Murphy is somewhat of an enigma rarely appearing on European stages, so it was a pleasure and priviledge to watch his session prowess live on stage – and what’s more, Kevin’s eco-friendly ethos meant that he used no heated-styling tools for his look. Neat! Then to close the show, industry favourites and long-term friends of Tribu-te Hooker & Young delivered three super glamourous, and technically brilliant looks to put the creative crown on what had been a tremendous evening.
