TrendVision 2018

Lauren Wella Professionals

trend vision 2018We’d heard the rumours but could never have imagined the inspiration in store at the Wella Professionals International TrendVision Award last weekend in Lisbon.

Jetting off to the Portuguese city we were beyond excited to take a peak at the new format, aptly named ITVA Creative Retreat. So much more than a simply a stunning show and awards ceremony, the event focuses on a mentoring experience for participants, designed to take their salon professional creative and social media skills to the next level.

Thrown into the deep end (always the best way) the 76 participants from 43 countries (winners of their local National TrendVision Awards) were straight in to an action-packed programme of challenges and training opportunities, under the mentoring guise of some of the industry’s biggest players.

Marvellous mentors

It was a line-up of dreams, with five of the UK’s most notable hairdressers: Darren Ambrose, Jayson Gray, Zoe Irwin, Bruce Masefield and Akin Konizi; joining international mentors, including Andreas Kurkowitz, Cyrill Brune, Dmitry Vinokourov, Renya Xydis, Miguel Estelrich, Matthias Herzberg, Sonya Dove, Markus Herrmann, Alexis Ferrer, Christophe Nicolas Biot and Abby Smith. Divided into eight teams with 10 participants in each; the mentors were paired together and responsible for teaching and coaching the finalists throughout the retreat experience. These 16 mentors went on to judge and select the winners for two of the biggest accolades in the hairdressing industry: the 2018 ITVA Color Vision and Creative Vision awards.
Congratulations to:

Wait there’s more…

The ITVA Creative Retreat Experience also saw the introduction of five new award categories to recognise the great teamwork that took place over the weekend. We were over-the-moon to see Krista Ward and Nikki Clifford scooping the ghd Queen Maker award in Team 1; and Darren Ambrose and Jayson Gray leading their team to victory in two categories Couture Color and Couture Collection. Huge congratulations guys, you did the UK proud!
