The Big Blow Out

Lauren The Blog

News of a TV show in the making has us buzzing here at Respect For Hair! It’s time hairdressing got more air time and in a positive way, too. The launch of The Big Blow Out could tick both boxes, giving professional hairdressers a golden opportunity to show off the skills, creativity and potential of a career in hairdressing. And this could include YOU! Apply for an audition and you could be part of the show.

The Big Blow Out is conceived by Love Productions, the makers of Great British Bake Off so we know production values will be high. And, like GBBO, this new show will be a talent competition format with contestants facing weekly tasks to prove they’re worthy of a place in the following episode. Importantly for us, this new show will champion professional hairdressing, and the makers promise a celebration of our industry. Now it’s up to us to field the best hairdressers and put our wonderful industry back on TV. After the past two Covid-stricken years and facing a serious lack of youngsters coming into the profession, this could really boost interest and be fun, too! The host presenters and judges are top secret – truly we’ve tried to find out – but we’re assured they’re top-flight and worthy of the roles.

It could be you

Here’s where you come in. If you hold an NVQ2, a BTec, or equivalent qualification in hairdressing, then no matter your age or stage, you’re eligible to apply. From salon owner, team leader to newly qualified, whether cutting, colouring or styling is your forte, give this a go. Braiding, weaves, bold colour, commercial looks or avant-garde – the makers of The Big Blow Out are open to all comers. Maybe it’s your time to shine, or a chance to put one of your team on camera. You have everything to play for. Taking part could mean a confidence boost, an opportunity to extend skills and accept the challenge to grow. Time on set could prove invaluable in promoting yourself or your business – it’s an amazing platform. A win win we say.

Call to action

Like all TV propositions, in order to do things properly, there’s a bit of paperwork involved, but don’t be fazed. Complete the forms and send a simple CV (an outline of your work/learning history). Read and apply HERE

So get to it! Closing date is Sunday 6th February …. chop chop and get your entry in now.
