The evolution continues for Takara Belmont

2021 marks a significant milestone in the history of Takara Belmont which joins a select group of iconic hairdressing brands that have reached their Centenary. An 100 year anniversary is not a small thing and even though we recently wished the iconic brand a happy centenary by travelling back in time and naming its biggest achievements, today we want to focus on the present and the fact that evolution is far from over.

Designing the future

The evolution of Takara Belmont from a small family-run business to a global player that exerts influence across the international salon market is not yet complete. It’s a journey, not a destination. With a determination to contribute to Japan’s global reputation for technical innovation and transform everyday functional products into multi-functional experiences, the future of hairdressing equipment is full of promise and new opportunities.

As a forward thinking, outward looking company, Takara Belmont believes in continual progress that respects the past, mirrors the present and anticipates the future. In the last decade alone, it has brought more furniture, backwash equipment, space-saving solutions, service options and innovations designed for every salon owner in every salon space and scenario. Salon owners can customise equipment to complement their brand, introduce new ideas and expand service options to deliver exceptional treatments to their clients. They can do this in the knowledge that Takara Belmont understands their business, the operational and ergonomic needs of their team and the service expectations of clients. It is this insight and global perspective that has enabled the company to create world-class products that accrue more appeal with age, whilst developing new and even more advanced solutions. Indeed, Takara Belmont was the world’s first company to introduce motorisation to hairdressing chairs and shampoo systems, the first to introduce infrared technology to colour processing and it presented the world’s first fully automated shampoo system.

Pursuing innovation

Even though Takara Belmont is a world-leading organisation in the hairdressing, men’s grooming and beauty industry, it’s great to know that – a time of mass globalisation – it remains a third generation family – owned independent business, spearheaded by global CEO Hidetake Yoshikawa. Despite its international presence, influence and size, it remains true to its founding principles of exemplary service, precision in design and manufacturing and the pursuit of innovation. Guided by its customers, its team, the market and its own instincts to push the boundaries of invention, dream the impossible dream and make real the imagination of barbers and hairdressers as they move the salon industry forward. A partnership philosophy and a shared vision that ensures the future of hairdressing and barbering is secure, exciting and full of potential.

With the appointment in July 2020 of new UK managing director Stephen Price, the Takara Belmont vision continues to take effect on a worldwide scale. Promoted after 23 years with the company, Stephen’s appreciation of the heritage of the company stride into the future with confidence and optimism, despite a year of unprecedented turmoil for the industry. He says: “We intended to transform hairdressing, barbering and beauty and although we’ve achieved so much, our mission to deliver equipment and services that exceed the expectations of hairdressers and barbers, and their customers remains constant. The longevity of many of our products are testimony to what has been accomplished so far and we will add to our heritage as we look forward to the next 100 years!”
