Red right now

Red hair is coming back around. The last time we remember the red trend was when Rihanna sported the fiery colour back in 2010.

Following months of suffering from dull hair in lockdown, clients’ are now wanting to make a bold statement look.  There’s no doubt the inspo this time around has come from the likes of newly flame-haired Kendall Jenner – which was created by her red-headed NYC stylist, Jenna Perry.

Kendall has refreshed her usual brunette for a flattering and ultra-glossy paprika hue and isn’t the only celebrity who recently fired up her locks. Celebrities such as Rumer Willis, Beauty Influencer Katie Jane Hughes, Actress Zoe Deutch and even Bella Hadid have recently played about with some flattering spice-inspired accents – proving that red is an exquisite easy update for those looking to experiment with a bolder hue.

However, as beautiful, and bold as red is, it is the most challenging colour to maintain for your clients (sigh). But fear not! By recommending the perfect at-home care products you can make colour maintenance ten times better for your client.  Adele Clarke, OSMO IKON Ambassador explains “Red is a colour that can notoriously fade fast, so it’s as much about prepping the right foundation from a salon colourist point of view.  The new OSMO IKON hi-lift reds are a must for this new look – they’ve launched new reds, violet red and copper red shades.  These new hi-lift reds are designed to lighten the hair and deposit colour all in one step delivering stunning results without the use of bleach.”

For utmost longevity for your clients’ reds, she adds “Encouraging your clients to use the correct aftercare will ensure the red hue lasts longer in-between salon visits.  The OSMO Chromplex bond sustainer is a must for redheads, as its Fibre Bond Technology will maintain hair strength, sensational shine, and suppleness to your client’s hair.”
