NEW: Photographic education course

Hair: Ashley and Stephanie Gamble, photography: Ashley Gamble

A great image is only as good as the man behind the camera lens. So, if in the wake of awards season, you’ve got your eye on a prize for next year, ensure your next collection is a corker and sign up to Ashley Gamble’s first photographic education course.

Multi-award winning hairdresser Ashley Gamble has first-hand experience of what makes a great image. From concept and moodboarding to casting and planning an awards entry, he’ll show you what it takes to make a winning collection.

Hairdresser behind the lens

Who better to learn shoot skills from than a hairdresser and salon owner, just like you, who has proven success in the competitive world of creating hairdressing imagery?

“Thanks to smartphones and social media, everyone is a photographer these days,” says Ashley. “That’s great, but how do you elevate those salon snaps into something that stands out, tells a story, represents your brand and works for your business – not to mention bags you awards and front covers?”

Having spent more than a decade on shoots – on both sides of the camera – Ashley knows what it takes to make images that tick all the boxes and in this course, he wants to share that with other hairdressers who are ready to level up and take their shoots up a notch. He knows that shoots aren’t just about beautiful hair; they’re about that, as well as brand-building, storytelling, product usage, client-pleasing and so much more.

Education on demand

The course will be taught on demand, in order to be fit with hairdresser’s own schedules and shoot plans. “Hair education has evolved massively in the last five years, as the need for bespoke learning has become evident,” explains Ashley. “I wanted to provide something that solved a problem lots of hairdressers have – knowing how to put together a winning shoot – while still fitting in with how busy salon owners and stylists work. I wanted to create a course that was specific and truly helpful, so people know exactly what they’re going to get.”

Ashley and his team have won, and finalised in, countless prestigious industry awards including, in 2018, Hair’s Salon Stylist of the Year, Salon Business’ Colour Salon of the Year and Midlands Salon of the Year at the Midlands Beauty Awards. He has also finalised as Schwarzkopf Professional British Colour Technician of the Year at the British Hairdressing Awards on four occasions.
