As salons across the UK await updates on reopening dates (soon, we hope!), the HAIRDOTCOM Art Team have launched three new courses to support hairdressers’ home education during lockdown 3.0. We mentioned it before – we now have more details on them!
Encouraging stylists to use the downtime to upskill, the HAIRDOTCOM At Home schedule now features three exciting new online seminars covering sustainability, session work and bridal styling. And that’s not all, due to the huge success of the first sell-out session, a new date has been added for Socially Awkward, which is taught by social superstars Vivenne Johns, Casey Coleman and Harriet Stokes. We actually joined this course and absolutely loved it, we highly recommend it.
“We know that creatives have been using lockdown to develop their skills, and as we start to prepare for gradual reopening, this is the perfect time to get some last-minute education in before things get really busy in the salon,” explains HAIRDOTCOM co-founder, Craig Chapman. “With our latest three seminars, and a second date added for Socially Awkward, we’re inviting hairdressers to learn something new or develop an existing skillset, so they can head back to work feeling confident, empowered and ready to meet their goals.”
The courses
Bridal 101 hair & business masterclass
When: Monday 1st March, 10am – 1pm. Cost: £50.00
In this session, led by Elizabeth Rita, you’ll not only learn trending and traditional bridal looks, but you’ll also discover how to create a bridal service menu for your business. From pricing and promoting to dealing with big day stress, this is the essential first step in developing your wedding work.
12 steps to sustainability
When: Tuesday 2nd March, 10am – 1pm. Cost: £50.00
Led by HAIRDOTCOM founders Ashleigh Hodges and Craig Chapman, this is an introduction to salon sustainability. Working with the idea that we can’t change the world – but we can change habits, Ashleigh and Craig will share simple steps and small changes you can make both in the salon and at home to create a big difference. With 66% of consumers agreeing that they would pay more for a sustainable brand, now it’s the time to make the change.
The perfect session assistant
When: Monday 15th March, 10am – 1pm. Cost: £25.00
Want to be the perfect assistant not only in the salon, but on TV shows, photoshoots and fashion events? HAIRDOTCOM At Home has you covered. Led by Miranda Elmer and Rebecca Wilcox, this seminar will give you the skills you need to become the ideal assistant. Learn how to create the key foundation styles required when assisting: the perfect ponytail, braiding, waves and textured styles. Assisting is the best way to break into the session industry, and by learning the best practices to get booked and rebooked, you’ll be well on your way to the career of your dreams. This course is perfect for Level 2 & 3 apprentices, graduate and young stylists to extend their skill set as well as experienced hairdressers who would like to learn what is required to move into the session arena.
Socially Awkward
When: Tuesday 9th March, 10am – 1.30pm. Cost: £50.00
The first Socially Awkward course sold out in record time, so a new date has been added. This course is a refreshing new take on social media and combining the team’s wealth of experience to share the ‘whys’ as well as the ‘hows’ of communicating online. This fun and dynamic session is delivered by three of British hairdressing’s best-loved social media stars: Vivenne Johns, Casey Coleman and Harriet Stokes. They will cover how to use social media to grow your business, but will also share advice for developing a healthy relationship with digital activity, and how to handle feelings of overwhelm. Packed full of the tips, tricks and techniques the team rely on for growth. Much needed!
