Kent Salon keep styling

Name us a single person in the hairdressing world who doesn’t love a bit of glitz and glamour at this time of year – go on, we dare you! Now name us someone who isn’t hooked on Strictly Come Dancing and all the amazing hair looks the talented team of artists churn out week after week. It is quite literally a hub of hair talent.

Hairdresser Georgia Woodland has been working behind the scenes and, with a little help from Kent Salon Brushes, she has created some of this series’ most show-stopping looks. Want to ‘brush’ up on your Strictly styles? (Sorry, we couldn’t resist). Here are some of Georgia’s favourites, along with her tips on how to emulate them in-salon.

  1. Janette’s Glamourous Updo

  • Brush the hair through using the KS09 brush, blast with a dryer and use a light spray wax.
  • Brush the hair into a tight ponytail using the KS04 brush, leaving a diagonal fringe section out and then twist the ponytail into a loose knot, securing well with grips.
  • Finally, apply a little gel and use the KSC01 comb to create fine hairline edges.

  1. Janette’s Quiffed Pony

  • Blow-dry hair smooth using Unite Boosta Spray and the KS11 brush.
  • Switch to the KS04 brush, sweeping hair up into a ponytail high on the crown, leaving a triangle section out on the front.
  • Backcomb the loose section gently and shape into a subtle quiff before pinning back into the ponytail.
  • Tong the ponytail section to add gentle waves before combing through and using a texture spray to soften the curls.

  1. Rose’s Retro Pony

  • Use the KS11 brush to smooth the hair.
  • Brush up into a high ponytail, using a generous amount of spray wax to tame any strays. Wrap a hair piece in a matching shade around the base of the ponytail, pinning well to secure.
  • Use the KS14 brush and the heat of your hairdryer to wrap and flick the hair for the cute 60s finish.

  1. Dianne’s High Bun

  • Smooth out the hair using the KS10 brush to create volume while blow-drying.
  • Sweep hair up into a high ponytail using the KS03, then blast with Unite Texturiza spray. Loosely wrap the hair and secure with grips before gently pulling sections out to create a softer looking shape
  • To finish, smooth out the fringe and add a little roundness with the KS12 brush.
