Haircuts4Homeless

If you didn’t catch a peek of the Haircuts4Homeless video when it aired during X-Factor at the weekend, you have to watch it here. Caution. It will make you sob, so grab some Kleenex quick.

Charity initiative Haircuts4Homeless, was founded by veteran hairdresser Stewart Roberts and has received incredible support following the unveiling of the The National Lottery’s latest top secret TV advert, and rightly so.

The Advert, which stars Stewart and his project, gives a fantastic insight into the initiative and how it has revolutionised the lives of those living on the streets. Seriously, his mum must be so proud.

How it all began

The launch of Haircuts4Homeless began back in 2014, when Stewart visited his local Salvation Army armed with his scissors and offered free trims to those waiting for hot food and drinks. After a successful first session, Stewart was continually asked to return, with other shelters eventually requesting his services.

To date, Stewart has toured the country and has 47 projects running with around  300 volunteers and has successfully completed over 35,000 haircuts through the incentive. Wowzer!

The future is bright

The future holds fantastic prospects for Stewart and the team as they get set to launch the first Haircuts4Homeless Training Academy, which will offer homeless people the chance to learn the skill and help them get back into work. They will also have the chance to volunteer to provide them with vital experience before going into the workplace.
