Vegan-ify your salon

With 2018 seeing more of us becoming cruelty and animal conscious, is it time for you to step-up your salon offering to cater to the next generation? We’ve been doing our research and there’s only a handful of salons that are 100% vegan and cruelty-free, and it’s potentially a very lucrative USP. So if this is the way you’re thinking of going then keep reading…

Ditch the leather
Before you think we’re completely mad, hear us out. Using non-leather chairs and sofas is a huge talking point right now and it may even help you gain clients if they think you’re willing to concentrate so much on the little details. Stylist Karine Jackson [above using Organic Colour Systems] uses fake leather in her Covent Garden salon. She doesn’t compromise at all in style or comfort, but clients really appreciate this extra touch.

Offer vegan snacks
This may be obvious considering that all the big coffee chains offer dairy-alternatives these days, but widening your snack menu to include vegan offerings makes you current and inclusive. Plus, vegan snacks are much lower in calories too. This will go down a treat with your team and clients and we bet they’ll love the vegan snacks even more!

Invest in vegan products
This may be easier said than done but have you ever thought about which ingredients are in the products you’re stocking and using on clients? As consumers get more ingredient-savvy, we have to remember that they understand far more than we might think they do. Which is why it’s worth investing in some vegan products to keep customers happy. Some of our favourite come from Organic Colour SystemsFudge Professional, KEVIN.MURPHY, Davines and Oribe – but be sure to check the packaging!
