Rush Live 2019

Rush LiveWe had a feeling this year’s annual Rush Live show was going to be a goody and of course we weren’t disappointed – this is one salon group that doesn’t do anything by halves. With so much to celebrate – the brand’s 25th anniversary, recently becoming a family run business again and the launch of Andy Heasman’s fab new collection Point Constellation – the show was a celebration of heritage but also an exciting look to the future.

Humble beginnings

Co-founder and joint CEO, Stell Andrew, welcomed the audience to the presentation, sharing images of his partner and co-founder Andy Phouli at the start of their career and the opening of the first Rush Salon in Wimbledon in 1994. Fast forward 25 years and the company now has salons in 100 locations throughout the UK.  For nine years, Rush has presented Rush Live and raised over £150,000 in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital and this year’s presentation will help to add valuable funds to this total.

After a brief introduction from International Creative Director, Andy Heasman and Academy Director, Adam Bryant, it was left to International Colour Director, Chris Williams to introduce Colour Team members, Tina Poonam Mehmi and Craig Teeder. The trio then used the principals of the Point Constellation collection in their colour work live on stage – star sectioning panels and stencils, working with a de-saturated almost mono chromatic colour palette, inspired by the night sky.

Let’s educate

Education Director, Paola Pinto and members of the Workshop Team were upon next to discuss how education is integral to each team members’ Rush journey. From their stunning demos, it’s pretty obvious the team had come far.

No Rush Live would be complete without a presentation from the amazing Tina Farey, International Editorial Director, who in her presentation #rushinspirations showcased her collaboration with London based fashion designer, Colin Horgan. A winner of countless awards, Tina sliced into the hair to reveal wet look painted panels, the outcome fusing high fashion with African Warriors and Kabuki. The solo model was joined in a dramatic theatrical choreographed presentation by other Colin Horgan attired models featuring painted multi-level bobs, mullets, frizz and larger than life Afro’s who took to the catwalk to showcase the wonderful avant- garde hair Tina had created. Wow!

RUSH LivePoint Constellation

Last, but most definitely not least, Andy Heasman presented his new baby, the Point Constellation collection. Absolutely magical, the multi-faceted collection of hair cuts and dressed hair uses star shaped angles to create internal texture and movement, to define the external shape. We like your style Andy.

Bravo team Rush, you really do know how to put on a show!
