The hairdressing industry is creative and collaborative and cherishes community. Two salons from different areas of the world have formed a remarkable friendship to demonstrate these values. Mewies and Co. – a salon in Leicestershire; and The Place, a prestigious hair salon in Switzerland, have joined forces to share knowledge, skills and inspiration.
Mewies & Co. and The Place
The partnership began at the 2022 Authentic Beauty Concept Global Community Gathering in Hamburg, where Dan Mewies, co-owner of Mewies & Co., met Michelle Tanner, owner of The Place.
Dan Mewies says: “When I met Michelle, we instantly connected over our shared passion for hairdressing and a commitment to creating a better community within the industry. Since then, our partnership has gone from strength to strength.”
A trip to Switzerland
Jemma and Dan Mewies visited Michelle and her business partner, in Switzerland following the encounter. During their visit, the Mewies & Co. power couple provided invaluable training to Michelle’s salon staff. This gesture was just the beginning of a powerful collaboration.
Michelle says: “Jemma and Dan’s visit was an incredible learning opportunity for my team, and it solidified our bond. Their dedication to education and love for the craft are truly inspiring.”
A trip to the United Kingdom
In return, Michelle and her husband visited Dan and Jemma in the UK and offered training to the Mewies & Co. team. This exchange of knowledge and skills deepened the friendships and strengthened the ties between the two salons.
Jemma says: “Having Michelle and her husband stay with us was a fantastic experience. We are constantly learning and growing, and their visit was a testament to collaboration’s incredible potential.”
The partnership has continued to flourish with Dan recently visiting Switzerland for a week to offer a guest spot in Michelle’s salon. He provided her clients with a full menu of services and delivered valuable education to her team.
