Hair Pieces 2023

The third edition of Hair Pieces 2023 was an exciting, immersive theatre experience for visitors. A blend of creativity and inspiration that had everyone talking!

The artistic line-up 2023

More than 275 guests were absorbed watching a programme of six teams in the iconic venue this November for Hair Pieces: The Big One. This event comprised an evening where for two hours the guests were free to roam, watch, admire and engage as they pleased, enjoying shows by top hairdressers. They then gathered to sit for a finale catwalk parade of finished models, before the trophy-giving for Tribu-te Magazine’s annual awards.

’10 Minutes With…’ a programme of interviews

For 2023, the programme included six creative shows and installations, plus the ‘10 Minutes with…’ interview platform sponsored by L’Oréal Professionnel Paris. Here five of the best UK hairdressers were invited to share their experience and views on live hair shows. It all gave the audience plenty to enjoy as they listened to: Darren Ambrose, Sally Brooks, Cos Sakkas, Zoë Irwin and Adam Reed talk with interviewers John Spanton, Jamie Brooks, Marlon Hawkins and Jo O’Neill.

What a show

Having walked around the venue, at 9pm the show teams gathered for a single parade of finished looks.

Simon Webster his hair art team in a spellbinding representation of the 70s film Wicker Man

Tomer Nagar and Darja Lätt are part of the Toni&Guy Art Team and work closely with Efi Davies. Their avant-garde hair work is meticulously detailed and surreal.

Sanrizz Academy brought their latest collection to live as they demonstrated how they put the photography together with a shoot-set. Leonardo and Rudi Rizzo, and Sharon Cox are adept at transforming high-street looks into cooler than cool styles.

Kathryn Dartnell and Miabella Alomassor represented the Oribe brand with a masterclass in styling delivered with elegance and panache.

The FAME Team 2023 gave us pop-culture, youth-punkish looks were skillfully created infront of the audience; think graffiti, denim and attitude to appreciate the cleverness of their work.

Enrica Russo was awarded The Big One 2022 and her live presentation reminded us why. Her incredible way with weaving, braiding and sculpting hair belies her age and years in the industry.

Following the parade, there was a thrilling presentation of The Big One Trophy 2023. What a night. As presenter Nicky Pope explained to her audience, the joy of live is key to hairdressing and we must continue to gather to display our best craftspeople in the best way possible.
