Gianni Scumaci and Sally Brooks at the Barrie Stephen Inspiration Day

Success is achieved with two things, talent and effort – a key message from the line-up of iconic speakers, including Gianni Scumaci and Sally Brooks, at the Barrie Stephen Inspiration Day.

With the goal of showing his team the endless possibilities available in the world of hairdressing, Barrie Stephen, Owner of Barrie Stephen Hair in Leicester, gathered his 50 plus strong team at the city’s New Walk Museum for a day of learning, led by some of the most coveted speakers in the hair business and beyond.

The day began with an introduction from Barrie who demonstrated how hard work and resilience helped him to get where he is today. He reminded his team that they are custodians of the Barrie Stephen brand, and with passion and determination they too can achieve great things.

The infamous Gianni Scumaci then talked to the stylists about his incredible journey to become an internationally recognised name in the hairdressing and fashion world. “If I can do it, anyone can” he said, reminding Barrie’s team of the significant social function of the hairdresser and how their talent can inspire trends and change perceptions.

Debbie Digby-Smith, CEO at Passion4Hair spoke about how young stylists can elevate their career with the right mindset and a deep desire to keep learning. And renowned life strategist, Damien Massias, showcased the impact social media on our self-esteem and mental health – asking the team to focus on making genuine connections with colleagues and clients to build fulfilling relationships.

Let’s hear it for Sally Brooks

Finally, the 2019 Fellowship for British Hairdressing Hairdresser of the Year, Sally Brookes took to the floor to show Barrie’s team how to keep striving for creative greatness in their everyday – creating their own fingerprint and using their talent to enhance the client experience.
