Lucan Salem recently undertook a journey with his father, Hari. This was no short walk in the park but rather the pair were climbing Kilimanjaro to celebrate 50 years of Hari’s Hair Salons – one of London’s most wellknown hairdressing businesses. Now that’s how to start a podcast conversation!

Meet Lucan
In this episode of the Respectfully podcast, Lucan relates how he and his sister Tassie have inherited this iconic brand ‘Hari’s Hair Salon’ and what it means to be charge of the family business. He is CEO and she is head of education. It’s an interesting collaboration for a city boy and his creative and artistic sibling. In his late 20s, Lucan moved from working in the finance sector to joining the salon group. He tells our podcast host Nicky Pope how he and Tassie both respect the past and plan for the future of this iconic brand.

During the conversation, you’ll discover how Lucan shoulders responsibility for a large team of hairdressers – many of whom have been with Hari’s for many years – and recognizes the need to evolve and lean into new ways of including technology and ever-changing market forces. He is candid sharing his strategies and vision for the future. There are five salons which Lucan calls a blend of destination salons and neighborhood salons, and he’s got big plans for both.
