Skyler McDonald is creative director and head of education at seanhanna salons with a London Hairdresser of the Year title from the British Hairdressing Awards, and a keen interest in photography and show work. She has presented for mainstream TV shows and won a reputation for her dynamic take on colour work. Significantly, she is also the creative driver and innovator of Skyler London – a dedicated colour salon. Find out more about how she runs the salon and organises appointments www.skylerlondon.com

We talked about…

Sean Hanna opened his first salon in the Sean Hanna group in nearly 40 years ago and now has 7 salons in London and Cambridge. His business and life partner Skyler McDonald has grown the colour focus for the group and in September 2017 opened the innovative Skyler London colour-only salon in Wandsworth, London. Together the pair chatted with Lauren Stone and Nicky Pope, sharing their stories and experience as well as their plans. We were fascinated to discover how they manage the work load to satisfy creative and business ambitions, as well as the different pressures on marketing for two strong brands. Recorded several weeks into the Covid-19 Lockdown in the UK, we also referenced the plans and imagination of how a ‘new normal’ salon service might roll out. Lively and accessible, this conversation is both informative and thoroughly relatable for salons and colourists everywhere.
