EP42 – Tom Connell & the future of international hairdressing

On the panel…

Tom Connell is the son of two hairdressers – learning his craft initially in his parents salon in Wigan, north Yorkshire, before leaving to train further with firstly Andrew Collinge in Liverpool, then with Trevor Sorbie. He remained with Trevor Sorbie International for 10 years, rising to the role of artistic director. Most recently he has taken a role with the Italian brand Davines as their hair art director. His remit is to reinforce and express the brand’s style through his vision and play a roles in creating photographic collections, training and presenting shows. It is quite definitely a global role – with travel included. Until now.

We talked about…

In light of the Covid 19 pandemic the outlook is now uncertain. Nicky Pope and Lauren Stone talk with Tom Connell about what hairdressing internationally might look like going forward, and whether this shared experience will bring us together or make hairdressing feel fragmented?
