Ashleigh Hodges joins the Respectfully podcast just a few weeks after stepping down as President of the Fellowship For British Hairdressing. A discussion of ‘where we are now’ in hairdressing provides a catalyst for a down-to-earth chat, with Ashleigh being super-honest about her two years in office (the youngest and a woman which is rare). And the challenges and rewards that came with it.
A hairdresser and owner of a co-working studio space (Mash Creative Studio, London), as well as champion for our industry, Ashleigh has a 360º vision of hairdressing. She shares with host Nicky Pope her career story to date, and what is coming down the line.

In the podcast. you’ll hear Ashleigh recount her beginnings as a Saturday girl in her Mum’s Northampton salon. A chance meeting with Errol Douglas MBE catapulted Ashleigh into the world of creative hairdressing; a pivotal time she recalls. Today she works with clients, and enjoys exciting roles as a session hairdresser on many TV shows including Britain’s Got Talent.
Going forward
Having benefitted hugely from support of the Fellowship during her formative years in hairdressing, the role of President was a welcome challenge. But now it’s time for Ashleigh to focus on her career, business and dreams.
