EP107 Mauro Carraro discusses the importance of photography and film in hairdressing

Mauro Carraro

In this episode of the Respectfully podcast, photographer Mauro Carraro talks with presenter Nicky Pope about his take on photography and film in modern hairdressing. You’ll hear him explain why it remains so essential to continue creating photographic collections, as well as great content for your socials, your digital platforms, and to compete and accelerate your career progression. He’s down-to-earth, oh-so-knowledge and really rather likeable!

Biography: Mauro Carraro

From working on a local newspaper as a teenager, to working for the nationals and glossy magazines, Mauro Carraro has an eye for a great picture and a story to go with it. He’s always had the wit and charisma to get into the right parties and events, too. As a young man he was soon a recognised member of the press corps invited to royal events – his back catalogue features many famous images of Princess Diana, King Charles as a young man and more. He’s shot at Wimbledon, film premieres and the back door of night clubs as famous names tumble out! But the past decades or so have been all about hairdressing.

Mauro Carraro knows his stuff!

Since childhood, Mauro has been close to the Mascolo family, and grew up knowing Toni&Guy as a brand from the inside. It was Mauro’s buddy Anthony Mascolo who persuaded Mauro to come over to photographing hair collections. It was the right choice. Working with Toni&Guy, TIGI and more big brands has given Mauro an insight into the commercial sector and he’s now highly regarded for his work photographing, and filming, everything from collections to step-by-steps, brochures and advertising. He’s recently worked for Tribu-te Magazine for cover shoots (June 2022) and campaigns (Summer 2023), as well as filming events including HairClubLive and Colour World.
