Your holiday hair essentials from Mood

Effective holiday haircare is currently top of the checklist. Between UV exposure, chlorine, saltwater, and humidity, the hair and scalp can become dry, dull, and fragile, and stylists are increasingly being asked for preventative solutions to support hair before, during and after time in the sun.

MOOD’s Sun Care collection offers just that, a smart, performance-led trio of hair and body essentials created for use around sun, sea and sand. Powered by prickly pear oil, the range provides hydration, nourishment and protection in lightweight, travel-ready formulas that support hair health and vitality while aligning with MOOD’s commitment to sustainability.

Tracey Ann Smith

The creative direction is led by Tracey Ann Smith, MOOD’s newly appointed Creative Director, who has won eight British Hairdressing Awards and brings decades of salon and session experience. Tracey explains, “We plan skincare before a holiday; the same logic should apply to hair. This range makes that easy. It helps stylists provide their clients with an accessible yet high-performance plan to protect hair and keep it healthy, even in extreme sun or salt exposure.”

MOOD’s Sun Care range combines practical, salon-worthy results with clean formulations and low-impact packaging. Each product features prickly pear oil, a natural antioxidant and moisture-binding ingredient that works to counteract dryness, damage and environmental stressors across both hair and skin.

Whether it’s prepping for poolside, rinsing out salt and chlorine, or simply staying hydrated on the go, this range offers a practical, all-in-one solution ideal for salon retail, travel sets or professional summer prep services.

Step 1: Sun Care Hair & Body Cleanser

A dual-action cleanser ideal for daily use after exposure to chlorine, salt, wind and sand. This sulphate-free formula gently removes residue while nourishing and rebalancing both the scalp and skin.

“This is the essential reset,” Tracey says. “After a day on the beach or by the pool, you need something that cleanses without stripping. This product keeps the hair soft and the scalp balanced while also caring for the skin.”

Step 2: Sun Care Leave-In 10-in-1 Treatment

This no-rinse treatment delivers instant hydration, UV protection, and frizz control. Designed to be used before, during and after sun exposure, its multifunctional formula shields the hair fibre while adding softness and shine, without weight or residue.

“I recommend clients should travel with this product, it’s so versatile,” says Tracey. “You can use it pre-swim as a protective barrier or post-sun for softness and shine. It gives the hair that resilience we all need”

Step 3: After-Sun Body Lotion

A cooling, rehydrating emulsion enriched with aloe vera, shea butter and jojoba oil to calm and nourish the skin after sun exposure. The lightweight texture is quickly absorbed, making it ideal for daily use after a day spent in the sun.

“A good after-sun is non-negotiable,” Tracey adds. “This one feels luxurious but absorbs quickly, which is exactly what you want when you’re on the move. It’s the final step in the full head-to-toe sun care routine.”

As with all MOOD lines, sustainability remains a central focus. The Sun Care range is cruelty-free, formulated with responsibly sourced ingredients, and designed in recyclable, low-impact packaging. The range also includes a sun care dry bag, which is made from recycled material and is completely waterproof.

“The range feels modern, practical and responsible,” Tracey says. “It’s travel-friendly, multifunctional and reflects the values today’s clients are asking for in their haircare.”

Whether prepping for a long-haul beach break or a long weekend in the sun, MOOD’s new Sun Care system delivers salon-quality protection and care, making it the summer essential every client should be packing in their suitcase.
