The British Beauty Council’s Industry Day kicked off British Beauty Week, and here we got the inside scoop on iconic pop star Melanie Brown MBE’s next career move.
The former Spice Girl, who we all know best as Mel B or Scary Spice, has teamed up with celebrity hairstylist Rory McPhee to create a haircare range dedicated to making healthy curls easier to achieve.
The duo teased their plans to launch MPWR in spring 2027, with a focus on simplifying curly haircare.

Curl power
Mel B’s curls have been part of her identity since she shot to fame in the ’90s. However, her relationship with her hair hasn’t always been straightforward.
At the event, she opened up about her personal hair journey, including cutting her hair short and colouring it pink after leaving a relationship. Reclaiming her natural curls became an important part of that journey.
Now she’s turning those experiences into a haircare brand, with the aim of helping others embrace and care for their natural texture.

Mel B also shared how embracing her natural hair made her feel empowered, and what it meant to hear from people who said she’d given them the confidence to wear their own hair naturally. It’s clear to us where the brand name has come from!
A hair pro behind the brand
Here’s the bit we love… there’s a hair professional behind the brand. Mel B has teamed up with her personal hairstylist and Redken ambassador Rory McPhee to develop the range.
Rory’s 20+ years of experience and science-led approach to hairdressing, combined with Mel B’s personal experiences, promise to simplify haircare routines for curly-haired queens.
Formulas are still on the DL, but we can’t wait to see this come to life!
