Your Fashion Week Forecast

Autumn is just around the corner (even though it may not seem like it in this sweltering heat) and with that in mind, it’s important that we’re aware of the trends that have been gracing the fashion week catwalks which may influence clients visiting the salon over the coming months.

Joana Neves, Editorial Director for Alterna has worked at many fashion shows across London, Paris and New York, and has shared two looks in particular that she thinks will be standout trends for the season…

fashion week beach waves

Beachy textured waves

As seen on shows including Isabel Marant and Louis Vuitton, beachy textures waves are one of the key styles this season and are a great way for clients to give their hair a break from heated styling tools.

For me, product is key when creating this look and can be used to enhance the hairs natural texture. However, for those who don’t already have natural waves or curls, you can use a heated styling iron to lightly tousle the hair without being too firm handed to create those soft, effortless waves before finishing with product.

I love to mist some Caviar Professional Styling Sheer Dry Shampoo into the hair paying particular focus to the roots for further body and then use a texture spray to give the hair added texture and grit. Products like the My Hair. My Canvas. Any Way Texture Spray, Caviar Professional Styling Perfect Texture Spray or Caviar Professional Styling Sea Salt spray are some of my favourites for creating this look.

You can also create this look and leave the hair to air dry for a further beachy and messy texture. I always apply some Caviar Multiplying Volume Styling Mousse into the hair and scrunch this in with My Hair. My Canvas. Easy Does It Air Dry Balm to give the hair further body and to avoid frizz before leaving the hair to air dry.

fashion week wet look

Wet look styling

The wet look is here to stay for autumn/winter 2023 and made a big debut at the Fendi autumn/winter catwalk show whereby models looked as though they had just emerged from the sea. Again, product is key when achieving this look to give hair that drenched look.

I like to mix both the Caviar Replenishing Moisture Smoothing Leave-In Gelee or the Caviar Professional Styling Luxe Crème Gel with my Caviar Replenishing Moisture CC Cream and apply this all over the hair so that it’s saturated with the product.

I then scrunch through some Caviar Clinical Densifying Styling Mousse throughout the hair to enhance the waves and give body and hold to the hair before finishing with a hairspray like My Hair. My Canvas. City Slay Shielding Hairspray for added hold and to protect against humidity and tame flyaways.

Pair the look with a deep parting to give it a fashion fresh feel.
