Just because your salon team is furloughed doesn’t mean that staff wellbeing should fall by the wayside. Despite not physically being together in the salon, this is a huge opportunity to cement your team and come out stronger the other side. As part of our #WorksForUs campaign we caught up with a couple of salon owners to find out what they’re doing to lift the spirits of their employees. Here’s what they had to say…
Siobhan Jones, Co-owner of Rose & Wild
“We are running a pilates session on zoom once a week for an hour. One of our artists Anna is a pilates instructor which is super helpful. Its something we were planning to do in our studio for a while so this was the prime opportunity to get it kick started. Because she is a hairdresser she is especially good at catering to our common needs; RSI , bad backs etc. We’re gaining knowledge on best practise for how to stand when working and also to solve any current issues we have already that can be corrected by simple movements and exercise.”
Simon Hill, owner of SESH Hairdressing
“During this time we’re doing our best as a team to remain in contact with each other and have fun wherever possible. We’re playing games such as ‘pass the apple’ in which the whole team filmed themselves catching an apple and when edited it looked like we are all playing catch together. Not only does this keep spirits high amongst the team, it is also great to share on social media and spread some light hearted fun.”
Linda Stewart, owner of Rainbow Room International
“One of our team set up a RRI team Facebook page, where all salons and team members are able to share videos and forward on Tick Tock videos. These are great and show each of the salons what the others are doing. It’s also great for us to promote on our social media pages if for example the team member is showcasing how to get a certain hair look at home or any at home hair care tips. This group allows all of our salons to communicate with each other and has created a really great salon group community.” Bravo team Rainbow Room.
