We love the fearless, bold shade Viva Magenta announced by Pantone as its 2023 colour of the year. Viva Magenta promotes a joyous celebration and a new narrative; it is the perfect shade for your clients who want to exude confidence and make 2023 a powerful year. Kelly Shone-Adams, Osmo technical advisor and owner of Technocracy Hair Salon in Neath, Port Talbot, shares her thoughts on Viva Magenta.
Kelly’s take on Viva Magenta
Kelly says that although Viva Magenta descends from the red family it can incorporate pink and purple. It’s best suited to neutral, medium, and dark skin tones.
“The lighter your base colour is, the more vibrant it will look. On darker bases, then pre-lightning may be needed.” Kelly Shone-Adams.
Achieve the look with Osmo
Kelly says that Osmo Ikon has a fantastic range of colours, including its new Hi-lift Violet Red. The Hi-lift Violet Red is capable of lifting from base 3 and above and can lift pre-coloured hair. The look below was created with Osmo Ikon 4.62 (40g) Violet Intensifier (20g) and 20 vol Cream Developer on a natural root base 3, seamlessly blended into previously pre-lightened mid-lengths and ends. The Osmo Colour Revive Violet (30g) with Purple Rouge (20g) was then applied to achieve a rich magenta. Your client’s will love this fun, intense shade and with Osmo Ikon you can easily recreate it at the salon.
To keep the vivid colour alive, your clients can take home the Osmo Colour Revive duo in purple rouge and violet for in-between salon top-ups. Mix the two shades for the desired look and apply to pre-lightened / bleached hair. The colour change can be as quick as 3 minutes! After applying rinse hair thoroughly, and voila, your client’s on-trend hair is ready to go. We can’t wait to see the results.
