Rainbow Room International, Scotland’s largest hairdressing group, has once again showcased its expertise and creativity by styling some of the biggest names in music at this year’s TRNSMT festival.
As the official hosts of the Artist Village since the festival’s inception, Rainbow Room has become an integral part of the TRNSMT experience. Their pop-up salon, situated alongside the performers’ dressing rooms, was a hub of activity throughout the weekend.
Schwarzkopf sponsored Rainbow Room’s presence at the festival, providing an abundance of styling products for the stylists to work with. This collaboration ensured that the Rainbow Room team had access to the best products to create stage-ready looks for the artists.
Year after year, Rainbow Room is invited back to be part of the backstage team, a testament to the glowing feedback they receive from artists and their teams each year. The salon extends its services not only to the performers but also to their managers, producers, and band members across the weekend.
The talented team from Rainbow Room were kept busy creating looks for a star-studded lineup of artists. From full cut transformations to eccentric styling, the salon catered to every client’s unique vision, ensuring they left the tent feeling confident and ready to take the stage. Styles ranged from edgy punk rock spikes to soft, beachy waves.
Artists that visited the pop-up salon over the weekend, included Rick Astley, The Courteeners, Declan Mckenna’s and The Mary Wallopers band, CMAT and Baby Queen.

This year saw a record turnout of attendees with a 50,000 sell-out crowd and legendary acts such as Liam Gallagher, Garbage and Courteeners took to the stage. Singer Tom Grennan told the audience that TRNSMT is his favourite festival as you can’t beat a crowd like the Scots.
Rainbow Room take this opportunity to provide their younger team members with valuable experience outside the salon, allowing them to work in an exciting, new environment. This initiative not only benefits the up-and-coming stylists but also ensures a fresh, innovative approach to all of the festival looks.
Stylists that were in attendance across the weekend included; John Paul Director at Royal Exchange Square, Diana Carson Director at Uddingston, Julie-Anne Owner of Crow Road, Andrew Lee Owner of Crow Road and Archie Lamb, Stylist from Uddingston. In addition to many others from the Rainbow Room International salon group.

The festival kicked off under sunny skies, with warm weather remaining throughout the weekend. On the final night, Scottish DJ Calvin Harris took to the main stage to close out the festival. Adding to the excitement, the Euro 2024 final coincided with Harris’s set where he kept the audience updated by announcing the match score in real-time during his performance, creating a fusion of festival atmosphere and football fever.
Diana Carson, Salon Director at Rainbow Room International Uddingston, said “TRNSMT 2024 was an incredible experience for our team. We’ve been a part of T in the Park and TRNSMT for nearly 20 years now, and it’s always a privilege to work behind the scenes, styling some of the most exciting artists in the music industry. As a company, we’re passionate about supporting young artists, which makes our involvement in TRNSMT particularly meaningful. This festival continues to be a fantastic opportunity for our young stylists to showcase their creativity and adapt to the high-energy backstage environment. It’s more than just doing hair; it’s about being part of Scotland’s vibrant music culture and giving our team the chance to grow professionally in ways that simply can’t be replicated in the salon.”
