The tissues were being past around as Stewart Roberts, the man behind Haircuts 4 Homeless, gave a super emotional and utterly engaging presentation about the work of his charity, devoted to giving homeless people their dignity back with free haircuts. It was hugely moving to witness how much of an impact our industry can make on people’s lives – we already knew that of course, but Stewart really put life into perspective. We won’t forget his final message: “If you’re struggling and finding life hard, go and help someone else in need, it’ll make you feel better.” Stewart now has 300 volunteers working in 45 UK locations and together the charity has issued more than 35,000 haircuts to rough-sleepers.
