Richard Scorer announced as creative director of Haringtons

It’s safe to say Richard Scorer has had a whirlwind of a career. His 38 years as a hairdresser include an A-list clientele such as Kate Moss, Claudia Schiffer, Cold Play and Clémence Poésy. He has led shoots for British Vogue and styled for Fashion Weeks in London, Milan and Paris…we’re impressed.

What Richard Scorer is doing

So, what is Richard doing now? Recently, he announced his new role as creative director of Harringtons in Beaconsfield. This announcement certainly gives his awe-inspiring career a bit of circularity as in 1985, Haringtons (known then as Philip Sharon Hairdressing) was where Richard started his career. In fact, Richard has worked with the brand in some capacity for almost four decades and is returning for his final career chapter.

As creative director, Richard will lead Haringtons’ art team, support education and provide mentoring. As well as driving a creative vision, we hear Richard will work with clients to deliver Harington’s first-class salon-experience.

Richard says: “After many incredible years travelling the globe and working with many exciting people and brands, I am thrilled to return to Haringtons to support the salon group and influence the next generation of hairstylists.

“I am looking forward to having creative freedom and promoting a new aesthetic for the brand. Also, working with the team on exciting projects and getting back behind the chair.”

Background

After struggling with dyslexia and leaving school at 15, Richard discovered that the salon environment was the right fit. We hear he progressed quickly as a session-stylist going from strength to strength.

Because of his experience at school and hairdressing’s positive impact on his life, Richard is passionate about supporting and developing young talent within the industry, particularly those who struggle within mainstream education. Richard will work closely with schools and community groups to offer young people an alternative education and career path.

Richard says: “Not only does the industry pay well, but young people learn much more than just cutting and colouring hair. Hairdressing is about communication, organisation, resilience and creativity. We must do everything possible to encourage young people to consider hairdressing a legitimate career path.

I look forward to being inspired by the young talent coming through the ranks. It is a young, creative industry. I want to do everything I can to empower them.”

Harringtons is an established salon group in the South of England, with eight salons in Amersham, Beaconsfield, Maidenhead, Marlow, Southampton, Wendover, Winchester and Wokingham.
