Rainbow Rooms International returns to TRNSMT Festival

As Glasgow basked in a rare summer high of 29°C, TRNSMT Festival lit up Glasgow Green with an electric line-up featuring 50 Cent, Biffy Clyro, Snow Patrol, Fontaines D.C., and Amy Macdonald.

Backstage, things were just as exciting—Rainbow Room International, Scotland’s largest and multi-award-winning salon group, made their much-anticipated return to the Artists’ Village. A backstage staple since the festival began, the team brought their trademark mix of creative flair, cutting-edge style, and expert technical know-how, helping artists and performers look and feel their best before hitting the stage.

Artists Village

Their backstage pop-up salon, situated beside the performers’ dressing rooms, remained a constant hub of energy throughout the weekend, supporting not just artists but their bands, management, and wider crews. The team delivered expert cuts and styling to withstand the summer heat and humid temperatures, all while setting the tone for festival hair trends right at the peak of the 2025 festival season.

With Oasis-inspired cuts trending in tandem with the band’s current tour, the stylists saw a rise in requests for textured crops, mod shapes, disconnected fringes, and hair that was full of lived-in, natural movement.

“It’s always a pleasure to return to TRNSMT and be part of something that’s become such a key moment in the Scottish summer calendar “, said David Nicholson, Salon Director at Rainbow Room International, Royal Exchange Square. “The atmosphere backstage was incredible this year, there was a real excitement and energy, which was very exciting from a styling perspective! We saw a lot of Oasis-inspired styles, such as textured crops, softer mod shapes, with the Gallagher’s current tour putting that era very much back into focus.”

The Crew

Among those joining David backstage were fellow salon directors Riccardo Corvi of Rainbow Room International Ayr, Jacqueline Curran of Rainbow Room East Kilbride, and Diana Carson, Creative Director of Rainbow Room International Uddingston, leading a team of talented stylists from across the brand’s award-winning salon network.

As ever, Rainbow Room International’s involvement also gave emerging talent from their salons the opportunity to work behind the scenes, giving younger stylists experience working in a fast-paced, artist-led environment.
