She wears a powerful look herself and is known for her tough opinions and strong brand image, but now weβre seeing that Sophia Hilton really is a softie inside. Her new makeover TV show βMisfits Salonβ β currently on BBC3 and YouTube β reveals Sophia as hugely compassionate and very insightful.
This lady has a serious talent for listening and supporting clients with very low self-esteem about their looks or ability to express themselves in the world. Each show episode plays out a visit to Not Another Salon where Sophia and her team show how difference is celebrated and true identities are discovered. Itβs uplifting β and we challenge you not to shed a tear at some point!
What she says

We asked Sophia why she allowed the cameras into her salon?
βMy program βMISFITS SALONβ is now in BBC 3 player and YouTube. After 4 years of meetings with production companies I did not waver or get pulled into a program that wasnβt me regardless of countless offers for βsensationalisedβ TV that would not have put me, or the industry, in good light. Iβve had this idea for so long, and in the words of my PR, Katie Braden, I was so specific in what I wanted that it seemed impossible I would ever be able to keep the integrity of me and my brand on TV. But I did, and it was so worth the wait. MISFITS salon was led by them, not by me, and thatβs what mattered. What you didnβt see off camera is they made mood-boards of who they felt they were on the inside and it was my job to reflect that, not shoehorn the latest trend on them. I had reservations that we could make an impact on the lives on these people for a while, because, letβs be honest, there is more to life than hair and makeup. But I can honestly say, hand on heart that we changed some lives. We let people look in the mirror and love whatβs staring back at them but most importantly we made it ok to be themselves.β
Love it! Well done Ms Hilton!
